I've never bought into the idea that there was any confusion about Barlow's Crickets and Holly's. Hit records is what packed The Apollo, not past glories. "That'll Be The Day" was hot, so they booked 'em. Barlow's Crickets were never a big group, so I seriously doubt that Frank Schiffman, the manager of The Apollo had any idea who Dean Barlow's and his Crickets were.
